Privacy Policy

Jiyo Suthar ("we", "our", "us") is the official community super-app for Suthar Samaj. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and website at jiyosuthar.com, in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023 (India).

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information to operate the Jiyo Suthar community platform:

• Phone Number — Required for account creation and OTP verification
• Name and Date of Birth — Used for your community profile and matrimonial matching
• Gender and Gotra — Used for matrimonial filtering (same-gotra matching is blocked per Suthar Samaj tradition)
• Location (state/city level) — Used to show relevant community events, jobs, and services in your area. Precise GPS used only for optional "Near Me" search feature.
• Profile Photos — Uploaded by you for matrimonial profiles and community avatar
• Voice Messages — Audio recordings sent as voice messages in matrimonial chat (stored on our servers, accessible only to the conversation participants)
• Community Content — Posts, job listings, business entries, messages, and other content you create
• Device Push Token — For delivering community notifications and alerts
• Financial Information — Payment details processed securely via Razorpay for optional Premium subscriptions (we never see your card details)
• Verification Documents (optional) — Aadhar and income proof for matrimonial profile verification badge

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your community profile
• To enable matrimonial matching within Suthar Samaj
• To operate the job board, business directory, events, and other community features
• To send community notifications, event alerts, and relevant updates
• To process premium subscription payments
• To moderate content and enforce community guidelines
• To improve the app based on usage patterns (anonymous analytics only)

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information only as follows:

• Community members — Your profile is visible to other Jiyo Suthar members (matrimonial profiles show to opposite-gender, opposite-gotra members only)
• Razorpay — Payment processing for Premium subscriptions. Subject to Razorpay's privacy policy.
• Firebase (Google) — Push notification delivery. No personal data beyond device token is shared.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information when required by Indian law or court order.

4. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Passwords are never stored — we use OTP-only authentication. Profile photos and documents are stored on secured cloud servers. Payment processing is handled entirely by Razorpay — we never see or store your card details.

5. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights:

• Right to Access — View all data we hold about you in your profile and account settings
• Right to Correction — Edit your profile information at any time in the app
• Right to Erasure — Request account deletion from within the app (Settings → Account Actions → Delete Account). Data is retained for 90 days for recovery, then permanently deleted.
• Right to Nominate — You may nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity
• Right to Deactivation — Temporarily hide your profile without deleting your account
• Right to Withdraw Consent — You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

6. Children's Privacy (DPDP Act §9)

Jiyo Suthar is not intended for users under 18 years of age. Our app enforces an age gate — users who enter a date of birth indicating they are under 18 cannot proceed with registration. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately at privacy@jiyosuthar.in.

7. Data Retention

Active account data is retained for as long as your account exists. After account deletion, data is permanently removed within 90 days. Community posts you created may remain visible (anonymized) unless you request their removal. Verification documents (Aadhar, income proof) are deleted within 30 days of verification or rejection.

8. Data Storage Location

Your personal data is processed and stored on servers located in India (Microsoft Azure). This ensures compliance with the DPDP Act 2023's data localization provisions.

9. Third-Party SDKs

Our app uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — push notifications
• Razorpay — payment processing for Premium subscriptions
• Google Play Services — app distribution and updates

10. DPDP Grievance Officer

In accordance with §13 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, we have designated a Grievance Officer to address your privacy concerns:

11. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
